How to Play the Digimon Card Game with BT-26 Timeless Bonds
Digimon Card Game is built around raising Digimon, digivolving them into stronger forms, and managing a shared Memory Gauge. A standard deck contains 50 cards, with a separate Digi-Egg deck of up to 5 cards. Players begin with five Security cards, and the main goal is to remove the opponent's Security before landing a final successful attack.
Know the Main Card Types
The main deck uses Digimon, Tamer, and Option cards. Digimon are your primary attackers and digivolution targets, Tamers provide persistent support or memory effects, and Options are action cards with specific activation conditions. Digi-Egg cards are kept in a separate Digi-Egg deck and are used in the breeding area.
Set Up the Game
Shuffle your 50-card main deck, place five cards face down as your Security stack, and draw your opening hand. Keep the Digi-Egg deck separate. The Memory Gauge begins near the center and determines how many actions you can take before control passes to the opponent.
Raise a Digimon
During the breeding phase, you can hatch a Digi-Egg if your breeding area is empty or move a sufficiently developed Digimon from the breeding area into the battle area. The breeding area is useful for preparing a Digimon before exposing it to normal battle-area interactions.
Digivolve Efficiently
Place the new Digimon card on top of a valid Digimon that meets its digivolution requirements and pay the listed digivolution cost. Normal digivolution also gives you a card draw, making evolution an important way to build stronger stacks while maintaining hand resources.
Manage the Memory Gauge
Nearly every major action uses memory. Playing cards and digivolving moves the Memory Gauge toward your opponent's side. Once memory passes to the opponent's side and the current action and triggered effects finish resolving, your turn ends and the opponent begins theirs.
Attack Digimon or Security
An eligible Digimon in the battle area can normally suspend to attack either an opponent's Digimon that can be attacked or the opposing player. Attacking the player causes Security checks while Security remains. Battle outcomes are primarily determined by DP unless an effect changes the result.
Break the Security Stack
When an attack checks Security, reveal the top Security card and resolve the appropriate battle or Security effect. The opponent starts with five Security cards. After all Security cards are gone, a later successful attack against the player can win the game.
Build Around a Clear Evolution Line
When starting with Timeless Bonds cards, choose one main strategy and prioritize cards that share compatible colors, traits, names, or evolution requirements. Consistent lower-level Digimon and affordable digivolution costs make it much easier to reach your deck's strongest Digimon without running out of playable cards.
